AUGUST 22 -- PICNIC DAY!! Big Festival
celebrates 128th birthday!
EARLY
in a.m.

--- Barbecue
operation begins. Over 50 volunteers season
and BBQ around 2 1/2 tons of beef.

Early to 10:45

--- BBQing,
saucing, slicing beef; cooking, cutting sausage;
preparing cabbage slaw, potato salad; in
general, massive kitchen operation using hundreds
of volunteers readying the big meal.

--- PICNIC
DAY MASS in St. Louis Church, celebrated
by Retired Bishop John Yanta. The famed
Liederkranz Men's Choir from San Antonio will
provide the singing.

over 2,000 diners per hour, using 2 efficient
meal serving areas to avoid long lines

displayed in the confines of air-conditioned
Koenig Park Hall.

all types of food and drink stands—sausage
and barbecue buns, nachos, homemade cake,
beer, soft drinks, iced tea, candy, ice
cream, sno-cones, and wine coolers; and
amusements for all ages--doll booth, bingo,
arts & crafts, plants, trash 'n treasures,
horseshoe and washer-pitch tourneys and
all kinds of souvenirs. 12th annual
St. Louis Downs Horseracing.

drawings pull down curtain at end of perfect
day of merrymaking. Beautiful quilts,
and numerous merchandise prizes and gift
certificates will be awarded. |

IN TOWN--Majestic St. Louis Church;
original St. Louis Church (166 years old);
first parish school and Moye buildings (all
over 100 years old on Moye grounds); church
cemeteries in western sector of the old town,
with century-old markers; and many old pioneer
homes and structures, namely, Landmark Inn
State Park and the homestead of city founder,
Henri de Castro; and numerous antique shops.
